We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing complete backend features, including database design, business logic, APIs, and integrations for modern SaaS products, enterprise web applications, and data platforms. This is a hands-on engineering position. We are looking for someone who enjoys building software, solving technical challenges, and delivering production-ready features with minimal supervision. If you’re the type of engineer who can take a feature from requirements to deployment independently, we’d love to hear from you. Responsibilities Own backend features from technical design through implementation and delivery. Design and implement scalable backend services using TypeScript. Design and maintain PostgreSQL database schemas using Drizzle ORM. Develop REST and ORPC APIs. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. Troubleshoot and resolve technical and architectural challenges as they arise. Optimize application and database performance. Collaborate with frontend developers and other engineers to deliver complete solutions. Review your own work to ensure production readiness. Occasionally mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is capable of working independently with little to no day-to-day technical guidance. You should be comfortable: Translating functional requirements into technical solutions. Designing database schemas and backend architecture for new features. Breaking down features into implementation tasks. Delivering complete backend functionality independently. Proactively identifying risks, edge cases, and potential improvements. This role is for a feature owner, not someone who requires continuous direction throughout implementation. Required Skills & Experience Programming Language TypeScript (required) Frontend Experience with one or more of: React Next.js TanStack Start Backend Experience with one or more of: Hono Elysia Express Database PostgreSQL Drizzle ORM You should be comfortable designing relational database schemas, writing efficient queries, and optimizing database performance. APIs REST ORPC Infrastructure Docker Linux Preferred Qualifications Experience with any of the following is a plus: Rust C# Better Auth or equivalent authentication frameworks What Success Looks Like A successful candidate will: Deliver production-ready backend features with minimal supervision. Produce clean, maintainable, and scalable code. Design efficient database schemas and APIs. Solve technical challenges independently. Communicate proactively when requirements need clarification or risks are identified. Occasionally mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving engineering practices.
