With a collective strength of 5 brands, we have more than 123 million monthly users that trust in our dedication to providing them with the best platform for their needs.As a Legal Counsel, you will handle complex commercial and legal matters and projects as part of the Legal team across the dubizzle Group. Working closely with the Group Legal team, you will help ensure the legality of commercial transactions and advise the business on its legal rights and duties. You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating and following up on a variety of commercial contracts and agreements under the direction of the Associate Director, Legal and the Group General Counsel, while providing sound advice on complex commercial matters, including technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) matters where required. You will support the Group's legal function across the wider group, however, based on your location, the vast bulk of your responsibilities will be linked to dubizzle Group's UAE businesses.In this role you will:Oversee commercial legal matters and consult on a range of legal processes (e.g. intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, financial/securities offerings, compliance, transactions, agreements, lawsuits and patents), including technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) matters where requiredDraft, amend and administer commercial contracts and other commercial agreements, and assist in the follow-up and processing of a variety of contract document requirementsProvide advice on existing and new commercial agreements, evaluate contract compliance and advise on contractual rights and obligationsNegotiate deals and contract terms where required and attend relevant meetingsPrepare research notes, reports and other legal documentsDevelop company policy and position on legal issuesResearch, anticipate and guard the company against legal risksGuide managers and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulationsRepresent the company in legal proceedings (court hearings etc.)Provide commercial legal support to the business and act as a point of contact for commercial legal advice in the UAE and the wider groupCollaborate with various internal departments on contract requirements and the contract processSupport the creation of processes and systems for commercial legal matters and organise and maintain contracts in an electronic filing systemStay up to date with legislative changesRequirementsBachelor's degree in Law or equivalent certification in England & Wales, Australia or South Africa (or equivalent commonwealth country) and training at an international law firm in one or more of those jurisdictionsMinimum 5 to 8 years PQE, ideally gained in an international law firm or a multinational organisationExperience working as a commercial lawyer, ideally with exposure to TMT matters (data privacy, media, software, and IT and IP advisory matters)Proven background in commercial law, with exposure to TMT matters where relevantProficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointStrong oral and written communication skillsExcellent academics, drafting skills and the ability to grasp and navigate complex legal mattersAbility to effectively multitask, manage time-sensitive documents and maintain exceptional organisational skills in a fast-paced environmentAbility to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environmentWell-organised and capable of managing multiple matters efficiently and prioritising appropriatelyFlexibility and willingness to work in other practice areas, corporate law, etcArticulate, with strong commercial acumenBenefitsA fast-paced, high-performing teamMulticultural environment with over 60 different nationalitiesCompetitive Tax-free SalaryComprehensive Health InsuranceAnnual Air Ticket AllowanceEmployee discounts at multiple vendors across the EmiratesRewards & RecognitionsLearning & Development opportunitiesBayut & dubizzle is an equal opportunity employer.
