Lead Data Scientist — Quantum One (Abu Dhabi)Quantum One builds AI and machine learning systems for large industrial companies in the UAE and the wider GCC: energy, oil and gas, logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure.We are hiring a Lead Data Scientist to own the technical side of that work - from the first client workshop to a model running in the client's production systems. The role is based in our Abu Dhabi office, on site with the delivery teams.What you'll doOwn data science workstreams end to end: problem framing, modelling, deployment in the client's environmentTurn unclear business problems into precise mathematical ones, and pick the method that fits - statistics, forecasting, machine learning, optimisation, NLP/LLM and RAGSet the validation standard for the team: experiment and back-test design, impact estimation, segment-level error analysisTake solutions to production with our Data Engineers and AI Engineers — deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retrainingLead a small team of Data Scientists: allocate work, review models and code, coach, and interviewBe our senior technical voice with clients: shape scope in discovery, present results to executives, and set expectations on accuracy and failure modes earlyWhat we're looking forRequired: delivery experience in the GCC - you have worked with clients or employers in the region7+ years in data science or applied ML, including 2+ years leading a team or owning a workstream end to endStrong command of statistics and machine learning, and of turning business problems into mathematical onesExperience with time-series forecasting, experiment design and impact estimation, and MLOpsEnough deep learning, optimisation and operations research, and NLP/LLM/RAG to scope, direct, and quality-check that workModels you have taken to production yourself, in production-standard Python: testing, Git, Docker, CI/CDA degree in a quantitative discipline; MSc or PhD an advantageFluent professional English; Arabic an advantageAn advantage: oil and gas experience - upstream, midstream, refining, or oilfield services — or another heavy industrial sector.What we offerCompetitive fixed salary and annual bonus schemeRelocation support and comprehensive medical insuranceWork across several industries rather than on a single productTransparent career paths, and regular performance and development reviews
