Pre-contract - BOQ and estimationPrepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from drawings, specifications and site surveys for new projectsPrepare cost estimates and budgets for new projects and client enquiries, with clear assumptions and exclusionsObtain, compare and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations; prepare comparison sheets and recommendationsSupport tender submissions: pricing, rate build-ups, clarifications and value-engineering optionsReview contract terms, payment terms and scope before award, and flag commercial risksPost-contract - variations, payments and cost controlIdentify, measure and price variations; prepare variation submissions to the client and track them to approvalEvaluate subcontractor variations and claims against the contract and agreed ratesMeasure work done on site and certify subcontractor interim and final payments, including retention and deductionsPrepare client interim payment applications and follow up certification and collectionMonitor project cost against budget; prepare monthly cost reports, cash-flow forecasts and cost-to-completeKeep commercial records up to date: BOQs, variation logs, payment registers, correspondence and site measurementsProject handover and close-outLead the commercial side of project handover: final measurement, agreement of final account with the client and with each subcontractorClose out all variations, back-charges and retentions; confirm nothing is left open before handoverCollect and check handover documents from subcontractors (as-built quantities, warranties, guarantees, O&M records) with the project teamSupport snagging and de-snagging cost assessment and recovery from responsible partiesPrepare the project close-out cost report: final cost against budget and lessons learned for future estimatesRequirementsMust haveMinimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, covering both pre-contract and post-contract workProven project handover experience, including final accounts with clients and subcontractorsHands-on experience preparing BOQs and estimates for new projectsExperience pricing and agreeing variations, and certifying subcontractor paymentsExperience in project cost control and monthly cost reportingDegree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related fieldStrong MS Excel skills; able to take off quantities from drawingsGood written and spoken English
