🧴 We’re Hiring: Cosmetic Formulation Scientist | Skincare Development Specialist🕒 Employment Type: Full-Time💼 Level: Mid-Level to SeniorWe are seeking an innovative, scientifically driven, and detail-oriented Cosmetic Formulation Scientist | Skincare Development Specialist to develop, formulate, test, and optimize high-quality skincare and cosmetic products. This role combines cosmetic chemistry, ingredient research, formulation development, product performance evaluation, stability testing, and regulatory coordination to create safe, effective, and market-ready skincare solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate with research, quality assurance, manufacturing, and marketing teams to transform product concepts into commercially viable formulations that meet consumer expectations and applicable industry standards.🎯 Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize skincare formulations, including facial cleansers, moisturizers, serums, toners, sunscreens, masks, creams, lotions, and other personal care products.Research cosmetic ingredients, active compounds, botanical extracts, emollients, humectants, emulsifiers, preservatives, and functional additives.Evaluate ingredient compatibility, concentration ranges, solubility, stability, sensory properties, and formulation performance.Design laboratory experiments to investigate new ingredients, formulation technologies, and product delivery systems.Prepare laboratory batches, prototypes, and pilot formulations in accordance with established procedures.Optimize formulation parameters such as pH, viscosity, texture, spreadability, absorption, appearance, fragrance, and skin feel.Conduct ingredient screening and assess the suitability of raw materials for specific product applications.Investigate formulation challenges, including separation, discoloration, precipitation, crystallization, viscosity changes, and preservative incompatibility.Perform stability testing under appropriate temperature, humidity, light exposure, and storage conditions.Coordinate product safety assessments, compatibility studies, and relevant microbiological testing with qualified internal teams or external laboratories.Evaluate product performance through appropriate laboratory methods and consumer-use studies where applicable.Develop formulations that balance product efficacy, safety, sensory experience, manufacturing feasibility, and cost targets.Collaborate with packaging specialists to assess compatibility between formulations and containers, pumps, tubes, and dispensing systems.Prepare detailed formulation records, ingredient specifications, laboratory reports, test results, and development documentation.Establish and maintain standardized laboratory procedures, formulation protocols, and experimental records.Work with quality assurance teams to define product specifications, acceptance criteria, and quality control procedures.Support the preparation and review of product information files, ingredient declarations, safety documentation, and technical dossiers.Monitor applicable cosmetic regulations, ingredient restrictions, labeling requirements, and product notification requirements in relevant markets.Review supplier technical data, safety data sheets, certificates of analysis, and other raw material documentation.Collaborate with procurement teams to qualify ingredient suppliers and assess raw material consistency, availability, and pricing.Work with manufacturing teams to scale formulations from laboratory samples to pilot batches and commercial production.Troubleshoot production issues involving mixing order, processing temperature, homogenization, viscosity, and batch consistency.Evaluate opportunities to improve formulation efficiency, reduce production waste, and optimize raw material utilization.Research emerging skincare technologies, cosmetic science publications, consumer trends, and innovative active ingredients.Assess opportunities for sensitive-skin products, barrier-support formulations, hydration products, and other evidence-informed skincare categories.Support claims substantiation by reviewing available scientific evidence and coordinating appropriate product testing.Ensure product claims are scientifically supportable and consistent with applicable regulatory requirements.Maintain laboratory equipment, follow chemical handling procedures, and comply with relevant laboratory safety requirements.Present research findings, formulation recommendations, project updates, and technical conclusions to cross-functional stakeholders.Manage multiple product development projects while meeting agreed timelines, quality expectations, and budget requirements.✅ RequirementsBachelor's degree or higher in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.Relevant professional experience in cosmetic formulation, skincare research and development, personal care product development, or a related field.Strong understanding of cosmetic chemistry and the functional properties of common skincare ingredients.Knowledge of emulsion systems, surfactants, rheology modifiers, preservatives, antioxidants, and active ingredient delivery.Familiarity with formulation development for creams, lotions, gels, serums, cleansers, and other skincare products.Understanding of ingredient compatibility, pH adjustment, viscosity control, and formulation optimization.Experience conducting laboratory experiments, preparing prototypes, and maintaining accurate research records.Familiarity with stability testing, packaging compatibility testing, and product performance evaluation.Knowledge of cosmetic microbiology and preservation principles is advantageous.Understanding of good laboratory practices and relevant quality management procedures.Familiarity with cosmetic safety assessments and applicable regional cosmetic regulations.Awareness of relevant guidelines and standards, such as ISO 22716 for cosmetic good manufacturing practices, is beneficial.Ability to interpret ingredient technical documents, safety data sheets, certificates of analysis, and scientific literature.Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret experimental results and identify formulation improvement opportunities.Experience with laboratory equipment used for pH measurement, viscosity testing, mixing, homogenization, or related analyses.Understanding of manufacturing scale-up and the challenges associated with transferring formulations to production.Ability to evaluate ingredient cost, sourcing constraints, product specifications, and commercial feasibility.Strong documentation skills with the ability to prepare clear technical reports and formulation records.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Effective communication and collaboration skills across research, quality, regulatory, procurement, and production teams.Ability to organize experiments, prioritize tasks, and manage several development projects simultaneously.Commitment to product safety, scientific integrity, data accuracy, and continuous improvement.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant laboratory data
